Stanford faced rival Cal on Saturday for the 110th Big Game and the 13-point underdogs did not disappoint. Stanford executed in all phases of the game and the seniors were sent off in grand fashion - with a Big Game win! For the second straight season, Stanford Football has been struck with devastating news of a career-ending medical condition for their starting fullback. Fifth-year senior Emeka Nnoli has been diagnosed with avascular necrosis in his hips, which also ended Bo Jackson's football career. Nnoli has endured several medical setbacks the past five years, though this final blow is particularly difficult.

Wednesday was a day we eagerly anticipated, with Stanford able to conduct its first practice of this preseason camp in shoulder pads. Ironically, the Cardinal could not protect against injury blows that struck three critical fifth-year seniors. Stanford Football took a step back on offense and defense Wednesday, with new questions at positions lacking depth and experience.

Before we can analyze what we saw Monday night in the opening practice of Stanford's 2007 preseason camp, we have to bring you up to speed on who was and was not on the field. There are a few new ailments to update, but also several who have healed since you last saw them hurt in the spring. Also two true freshmen have arrived with injury troubles, which we unhappily first report here.
