PULLMAN – Mike Leach in his WSU first fall camp is expected to place major importance on the special teams units. An underwhelming third phase of the Wazzu's game in recent years, the Cougars appear ready to turn a corner in 2012, both literally and figuratively.

PULLMAN--Hello Cougar fans! Andrei Lintz back with another CF.C diary entry. This will be my last entry for the month of June as we have next week off. I have lots to cover and will try my best to pack this entry to its fullest. This week has been an exciting one on the Palouse as temperatures have increased, freshmen have arrived and the Idaho Vandals made a trip to Pullman for a friendly 7-on-7.

MERCER ISLAND – If a picture paints a thousand words, then a quick glance at Eric Russell adds up to a tome. Washington State's assistant head coach and special teams coordinator doesn't need to utter a syllable before you know he means business. Talking with him before and after his work Friday at the Northwest Elite Camp at Mercer Island High, it was clear his countenance matches his words.

PULLMAN — New Washington State special teams coach Eric Russell wasn't handed an easy task. The Cougs in 2011 were lagging in multiple special teams categories, with net punting among the areas most in need of a fix. But Russell tells CF.C there's a mid-year transfer who can take care of that problem -- and more -- in 2012.
