PULLMAN -- Dom Williams said he and Gabe Marks like to call themselves the best duo of wide receivers in Washington State history. But as Marks, along with safety Taylor Taliulu, met with the media, he was reticent to speak on that subject other than to say both are having good seasons. Marks also discussed quarterback Peyton Bender's demeanor, while Taliulu talked about intercepting his first pass.
PULLMAN – When a win comes at the possible cost of the starting quarterback, it's hard to give an all-out fist pump in victory. But the physical nature of football makes it a next-man-up sport, and in that regard, it was pleasing to see backup QB Peyton Bender come off the bench and gamely perform in the Cougars' 27-3 win over Colorado.
IT'S BEEN FIVE YEARS since a Cougar running back rushed for 100 yards - but the last four season are no great mystery: Mike Leach wants his 'backs to rack up all-purpose yards. So if a Leach RB is going to top the century mark in rushing yards, it will come on a small number of touches. For Gerard Wicks in WSU's 27-3 win over Colorado on Saturday, it took but nine carries.
