Summary: The Storm were the most successful team in the system with a 75-65 record before being swept in the opening round of the Cal League playoffs. The unusual aspect of this year’s squad was how much they were dominated by quality pitching prospects in what is easily the Padres’ organizations most hitter friendly league.

LAKE ELSINORE – Dane Phillips, 23, was selected in the second round of the 2012 draft by the San Diego Padres out of Oklahoma City University; the highest draft pick ever from that school. He transferred to play with the Stars after two years at Oklahoma State University to get more playing time, particularly behind the plate.

Both El Paso and San Antonio lose. The Storm get another strong performance from Colin Rea but the bullpen blew up for the TinCaps. Eugene took their worse loss of the year and the AZL Padres may have the "real Donovan Tate."

We caught up with Randy Smith, the Padres’ Vice-President of Player Development, for his thoughts on San Diego’s system at mid-season.
Matt Wisler looks good in El Paso while San Antonio struggles on the road. Lake Elsinore, Fort Wayne and Eugene all lose but Robbie Erlin looks great on a rehab in the AZL.
Both El Paso and San Antonio lose. The Storm get beat in extra-innings and a big inning sinks the TinCaps. Franchy Cordero has another tough night in the field for Eugene and the AZL Padres get tonight's only victory.
El Paso has some serious speed in their lineup while Josh Geer and the Missions endure a pounding. Coby Cowgill and the Storm win while pitching lets down Fort Wayne and Eugene.
