6-3 guard Marcus Williams of Mouth of Wilson (VA) Oak Hill Academy earned my choice as Academy National Invitational MVP as he led the Warriors to their second straight title. He led the team in scoring the last two game, scoring 21 and 16 points respectively. Williams set an Academy National Invitational record with 14 assists in the opening contest. He had seven assists and six steals in the championship game and made four three-pointers. Williams signed with Connecticut in the early period.
Nimitz defeated crosstown rival Aldine 70-67 to capture seventh place in the Academy National Invitational. The Cougars, who had their two stars combine for 52 of its 71 points in their loss to Cedar Hill, featured a much more balanced attack as they had four players reach double figures.
