Johnathan Calvin made the move from Co-Lin Community College to Mississippi State in hopes of being a starting defensive end. Calvin spent most of the season as a reserve defensive end supporting A.J. Jefferson. With senior starter Ryan Brown lost to injury for the Belk Bowl, Calvin is making the move to the other side of the defensive formation as well as taking one more step up the depth chart to starter.

One of Mississippi State's biggest wins on the recruiting trail for the 2015 cycle was the victory over Auburn for Co-Lin defensive end Jonathan Calvin. Sought as a plug and play pass rusher, Calvin had several options. With only two practices remaining in his first spring as a Bulldog, Calvin is happy with his progress and his decision to stay in state for his college career.

Mississippi State won a hard fought recruiting battle against Auburn for the services of Co-Lin defensive end Jonathan Calvin. While Calvin did take an unofficial game day visit to the plains during the season, the only official visit the talented edge rusher took was to Mississippi State. With his signing now behind him, Calvin looks ahead towards an SEC future.

Mississippi State will lose three starters from their defensive line once the 2014 season comes to an end. Co-Lin standout Jonathan Calvin plans to arrive in Starkville and fill one of those spots this coming spring. While another SEC team remains in touch with him, the Jackson, Mississippi product reports that he still plans to sign with the home state Bulldogs.
