With an extended spring training, the Cleveland Indians are not forcing their injured players into the early stages of the 2017 Cactus League slate. Jason Kipnis (mild rotator cuff strain) and Tim Cooney (left mid forearm strain) will miss four to five days and 10-12 weeks respectively to recover for the upcoming season.

Already bolstered by the signings of Boone Logan, Hoby Milner and Tim Cooney this off-season, the Tribe bullpen reportedly added Cincinnati, OH native James Russell on a minor league deal with an invite to big league camp.
