Springs Admits His Poor Play

Oregon defensive back Arrion Springs is well aware of all the problems facing the Oregon Ducks amidst a 5-game losing streak. In fact, Springs was benched last week against Cal, and by his own admission it was due to him not playing well. This week, Springs and his teammates hope to change things against ASU.

Arrion Springs Talks about Last Week and Next

The Oregon defense is not handing out excuses and were not satsified with its performance last Saturday in Nebraska. There were too many mistakes, including pass interference calls that allowed Nebraska to keep drives alive and score. This week the Ducks can redeem themselves against Colorado on Saturday, in the Ducks' Pac-12 opener at Autzen Stadium.

Cornerback Arrion Springs on Tuesday

Last week Oregon corner back Arrion Springs was the Ducks' second leading tackler against UC Davis with five total tackles (four solos) including one tackle for loss. He also had a pass break up. This week Virginia comes to town for 7:30 p.m. kickoff at Autzen Stadium and the Oregon defenders will be put to the test by Virginia's tall, athletic receivers.

2016 Ducks Preview: The Defense (updated)

The Oregon defense in 2016 will be improved from the 2015 team. How could it not be?  The Ducks in 2015 were dead last in the Pac-12 Conference in two critical categories: scoring defense (37.5  ppg) and total defense (485.3 ypg)  but 2016 things have to be better.

Offensive Takeaways From Today's Spring Game

The Ducks played the 2016 edition of their annual spring game this afternoon with a good bit of intrigue in tow. With a few months before their season opener against UC Davis, the quarterback job is still anyone's win. With a lot of starters also taking the afternoon off, there were quite a few players who stepped up with respectable performances and threw their hat into the team's role player ring.

Week One of Spring Ball in the Books

Today's practice closed out the Ducks first full week of spring ball. With the hiring of Brady Hoke comes a new 4-3 scheme to the Oregon defensive unit and the players on Hoke's side of the ball are getting their first taste of how the defense will run this year.
