THE COUGAR DEFENSE in 2014 needs to up their sack totals (considerably) and they need to get more consistent heat on the quarterback. In a recent CF.C talk with defensive coordinator Mike Breske, there's reason to believe that's going to happen because of what's going on in one specific area.

PULLMAN – It's ironic that amid a veteran-heavy Washington State receiving corps, the opening touchdown reception of the team's first official scrimmage belonged to a freshman. But the speedy Robert Lewis was just one of several young Cougars flying around and making plays on Day 11 of spring practice.

PULLMAN – By the third play of a goal-line fade drill early in practice, the Cougar offense was doing up-downs. WSU's young defense was physically dominant to start Day 9 of spring practice, and won the first head-to-head drill of the session. The offense, however, finished the day on a high note thanks to some motivational words from one of their senior leaders.
