Tyler Hilinski took the bulk of the quarterback snaps, while cornerback Treshon Broughton got some reps in his first real scrimmage work. But as one Cougar assistant coach noted, the tackling left something to be desired.

PULLMAN -- Washington State's defense would not be stopped Wednesday, after Tuesday's less than riveting performance. The players were unhappy about Tuesday's effort and execution, and they channeled their frustration and disappointment into emotional drive to be better than the offense a day later.

LEWISTON -- The ninth day of preseason camp saw an end to Washington State's protracted stay in Lewiston, but the Cougars made sure to leave Sacajawea Junior High School with one final scrimmage Sunday. It was a scrimmage whether neither side gave quarter, leaving plenty to settle as the yellow school buses return to Pullman for the continuation of camp.

PULLMAN — That's a wrap for Washington State spring ball. One last chance to polish up mistakes from the Crimson-Gray game. One last chance to show coaches who ought to get playing time come fall. The Cougar offense left a final impression, though not a decisive one, defeating the defense in one of the closest team scrimmages during the five-week spring practice session.
