Vandals fall at ASU in Luton debut

REDSHIRT FRESHMAN QUARTERBACK JAKE LUTON got his first shot starting under center for the Vandals Saturday when Idaho traveled to Arkansas State. Luton finished with 166 yards passing, scored three touchdowns on the ground and threw three pics as Idaho fell to the Red Wolves 49-35. Epps, the top receiver in the Sun Belt, was Luton's No.1 target as he spread the ball around to seven receivers.

Vandals still searching for answers

IDAHO'S STRUGGLE TO FIND A WINNING BALANCE continued Saturday afternoon after South Alabama (2-2, 1-1 Sun Belt) jumped out to a 20-0 halftime lead, held off an Idaho (0-4, 0-2 Sun Belt) charge in the third quarter, then cruised to a 34-10 win. There was a boisterous Vandal crowd at this Dad's Weekend game, but for the first weekend this season the Vandal offense gave the faithful little to cheer.

VANDAL GAMEDAY: Idaho @ Florida

THE VANDALS OPEN THE 2014 SEASON Saturday on the road at traditional SEC and national power Florida, and both sophomore Chad Chalich (11) and redshirt freshman Matt Linehan (10) will get their chances under center. SIGNING DAY: Vandals add 17 recruits

NATIONAL LETTER OF INTENT DAY was a day loaded with surprises for Vandal fans as the second year staff under head coach Paul Petrino hauled in athletes from coast to coast. Of the 17 recruits signed Wednesday - most poised to make an immediate impact this fall - nine will be joining the program from the junior college ranks, taking the class to 25 with the eight JC recruits signed in December.
