TUKWILA – Future Washington State cornerback Austin Joyner, fresh off a state long jump title and hamstring tweak, looked on as a spectator Friday evening at the Northwest Elite Football Camp while more than 700 other high school prospects were on the field looking to hone their skills while attracting the attention of some of the 150 college coaches who were serving as instructors.

THIS IS NOT a story about the high school juniors we think will be the top recruits from the state of Washington a year from now. If it were, much of the tale would be about Thomas Toki, the No. 2 defensive tackle prospect on the West Coast who already has committed verbally to Washington State, and quarterback Brett Rypien, the No. 11-rated signal caller in the land for the 2015 recruiting cycle.
