If the early bird truly gets the worm then Appalachian State is feasting as they officially kick-off the 2015 season. An early February start to spring practice seems a bit of false advertising, the average temperature in Boone at this point is in the mid-40s. But so excited are the Mountaineers about this team, and an earlier start to strength and conditioning, that App State is off and running.

Just days before Christmas, Appalachian State Football is counting down more than just the hours to Santa’s arrival. A dozen Mountaineer coaches have wish lists committed to memory and the race to complete App State’s 2015 class is in the stretch run. On February 4th the class becomes official. Until then the naughty-and-nice tactics of football recruiting glow like a front-yard reindeer display.

Mondo Williams doesn’t just meet the criteria for an impact player, he obliterates it. This season Williams helped lead Iowa Western Community College to the junior college national championship game with 44 tackles (25 solo), eight interceptions, nine pass break-ups, and averaged over 25 yards a kickoff return. When you talk with “Juice,” you can feel the energy that goes into his game.
