The wind had already been taken out of the Cardinals' sails even before gametime. St. Louis held off a late Vikings rally to take a 21-17 victory and the last remaining playoff spot. The playoffs would elude Arizona for the 7th straight season, but a winning record was still within their grasp, something this franchise hasn't accomplished since 1998.

As bad as the 37-17 home defeat the Redbirds were made to suffer through was, the week actually got worse after Sunday. On Tuesday, the team announced that QB Kurt Warner had suffered not only another concussion, but also had a severely strained neck that could potentially require surgery.

The Cardinals were coming off of an encouraging Week 1 rout of the 49ers entering their road game versus the Seahawks. Seattle QB Matt Hasselbeck was listed as doubtful until a late upgrade to questionable on Friday after suffering a sprained thumb in the Seahawks' opener at Detroit. No matter, as Coach Dennis Green told the media all week Arizona was preparing for a Hasselbeck-led offense.

I've got to be honest. I watch a lot of football and I've only heard of one of these guys: Darryl Blackstock. And that's because he was touted as a first round prospect in the 2005 draft and ended up going much later. He was part of the vaunted Virginia linebacking corps that produced undrafted Kai Parkham and currently suspended, now entering the NFL's Supplemental Draft, Ahmad Brooks.
