SS Shaun Williams apologized to teammates and co-owners Wellington Mara and Bob Tisch for getting ejected from the San Francisco game, but felt he had to help LCB Will Allen before receiving that second costly unnecessary roughness penalty with one minute left.

Kicker Owen Pochman, who is on injured reserve, had surgery today on his left knee. Pochman had microfracture surgery, the same procedure that Jason Sehorn and Dusty Zeigler had last January.

QB Kerry Collins left the game in the second period with a bruised left shoulder. Collins is scheduled to go for an MRI Sunday.

The Giants are still unhappy with their special teams. In their Saturday exhibition, PK Owen Pochman had no touchbacks on four kickoffs and was penalized for one kickoff that went out of bounds. Rodney Williams punted five times for an average of 36.8 yards, with none getting inside the 20-yard line.
