Chargers Release Wiley, Others

Six players were released and four others were not tendered offers, allowing all of the players to become Unrestricted free agents on Wednesday. TE Stephen Alexander, RB Antoineo Harris, DE Raylee Johnson, T Vaughn Parker, C Cory Raymer and DE Marcellus Wiley were released while G Michael Keathley, WR Tim Baker, WR Dondre Gilliam and G David Brandt were not tendered offers. Johnson and Parker requested to be released and the team obliged.

Chargers Vets Feel the Pinch

The early word has put Vaughn Parker on the outs with the San Diego Chargers as they have asked him to take a pay cut he is not willing to. Thus the team will grant him his release. With injuries trampling the offensive line a year ago, this area is a priority. Other prospective free agents on the line may or may not be back with the club. Chargers Review: Defensive end

The return to health of Marcellus Wiley was part of the projected resurgence of the defensive line. Ray Lee Johnson and Adrian Dingle would support the opposite side in some sort of rotation and add in sacks and quarterback pressures. The heat from the ends never materialized in a consistent fashion and it left the secondary gasping for air and struggling to keep up in coverage.
