Rams fans have their own version of "American Idol" coming to them this summer. Candidates auditioning for a professional contract have been showing their abilities before a panel of expert judges who should be brutally frank in the assessment of their future.

Defensive end Leonard Little did not practice Monday morning because of a sore knee, the result of what some believe was a cheap shot by Raiders guard Frank Middleton Friday night. Little did very limited work in individual drills, and said he would play next Monday night against Tampa Bay.
The Rams had high hopes for third-round pick Kevin Curtis, but the speedy wide receiver was unable to practice much for more than a week because of a quad problem.<br> He was finally able to do work in team drills before the game against the Raiders, then caught four passes for 64 yards in that game

The Rams began training camp with a depth chart at fullback topped by a 2002 practice squad player who was a stand up tight end in college, a second year street free agent with no NFL game experience, and a solid veteran who is more a big halfback than a true fullback like the Rams have had the past two seasons, since James "Hammer" Hodgins became the starter late in the 2000 season.
