Well, it took a while but I finally could write about a football victory again. No, I'm not delirious or drowsy…not after a cup of French Market brand, black with chicory. (By the way, in a bit of good news from the week-past, I hear the Café du Monde is back in the beignet business!) No, I'm wide-awake and in possession of most of the operative senses. The fact is that due to some big baseball event up north, the Houston Chronicle needed a fill-in college football writer.
