FOXBORO -- The New England Patriots announced that they have made a trade with the Philadelphia Eagles for wide receiver Greg Lewis. Terms of the deal were not announced. The Patriots also announced three signings on Thursday.
FOXBORO -- The New England Patriots re-signed linebacker Eric Alexander Wednesday. The fourth-year veteran was an exclusive rights free agent. The team also released three players; Tyson DeVree, Casey Tyler and Henry Smith.
The Patriots need to put out an APB for linebackers. Down to the bare minimum to run a 3-4 system, the team could use an influx of youth and talent at the various positions.

The Patriots added one of their practice squad players to the active roster Saturday to deal with the injuries affecting the team. Safety Ray Ventrone was signed to the active roster. Terms of the deal were not available.

Richard Seymour will play today, Sammy Morris and Ben Watson will not. In effect, the Patriots just got better, not good news for the Washington Redskins. Inactives for both teams.
