So you win a few, you lose a few. After a good win against Oregon State, everything evened out once again with the loss to USC. A loss to the highly-ranked Trojans should not have shocked anybody. With the level of talent they have stockpiled for the future makes them look like the so-called "Florida State of the West." In fact, I'll go one better. They may be the "Miami of the West." But as the old cliché says, there is no use crying over spilt milk.

The mood was certainly more upbeat Monday after a win, as it should be. But when asked about improvement from week one to week two, the phrase Husky players could have all used was 'cautious optimism'. The subjects ranged from 'camp legs' to defensive line coach Randy Hart. And here are their answers.

The excitement and buzz is back at Montlake as the Washington Huskies get set to kickoff the 2003 campaign in a big way this Saturday in Columbus, Ohio. It seems like it was just yesterday I was watching Purdue take the Huskies to school in El Paso.

Coach's Corner

After watching a complete spring and the fall two-a-day practices, the Husky defense has taken on a completely different feel than a year ago. There are a lot of the same faces but the mix is different, the schemes are different, the attitude is different, and the results will be different.
