Willingham hopes tricks turn into treats

Clearly the old way of doing things just isn't working. Washington's pass rush this year has been so woefully ineffective, the Huskies turned to a 200-pound linebacker to provide a lift. Chris Stevens did his best Harry Hyde imitation simply by putting his hand on the ground and attacking the quarterback. During Tyrone Willingham's Halloween press conference the Husky head coach talked about using more 'creativity'. And he wasn't talking about costumes and haunted houses.

Willingham not taking much enjoyment out of win

Tyrone Willingham didn't have a bounce, a skip or anything else to his step, despite winning his first football game as head coach of the Washington Huskies. In fact, his demeanor was eerily similar to last week when the Huskies lost by 38 points. But after a 34-6 win over the Idaho Vandals Saturday at Husky Stadium, let's assume Willingham was excited on the inside.

Scrimmage brings mixed results

Thursday's full scrimmage at Husky Stadium will be the closest Tyrone Willingham and his Washington football team will get to a live game situation before they take on Air Force at Qwest Field a week from Saturday. So did the Huskies get closer to naming their starting quarterback? Will Kenny James see the field September 3rd? Answers are coming from Montlake, just not at record speed.
