Marshall used a one-two quarterback punch of Byron Leftwich and Stan Hill to move the ball effectively against Ohio. The Herd escaped Peden Stadium with a 24-21 win over the Bobcats when OU's Kevin Kerr missed a 47-yard field goal with only :25 remaining in the game.

Akron scored 20 points off 7 Marshall turnovers, as the Zips beat Marshall today, 34-20, at the Rubber Bowl in Akron, Ohio in front of a frozen 13,762 in attendance. The courageous play of injured Marshall quarterback Byron Leftwich was a highlight in a game full of lowlights for Marshall.

Mt. Pleasant, Michigan --A less-than-stellar performance by Marshall ended up with Central Michigan giving the Herd a run for the money. Marshall left with the 23-18 win, but the 14,564 in attendance on a cold and drizzly day here in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan saw CMU's late rally fall short of the upset.

The night was moist. 27,121 soggy fans watched as Marshall outgunned Troy State, 24-7, on Saturday night. Byron Leftwich threw for 275 yards and two TDs despite a solid rain that lasted the entire game.

Marshall used a 645-yard offensive output to put the clamps on MAC East foe the Kent State Golden Flashes 42-21 Saturday, in front of a paltry 15,337 at Dix Stadium in Kent, Ohio. Byron Leftwich led the unusually balanced attack that racked up 377 yards in the air and 268 on the ground.
