The help wanted sign is back out at Gillette Stadium, and it's not for event ushers, hot dog vendors or parking attendants. It's for help on defense. The Patriots opted to work out a free agent who might be able to contribute on the team's injury-riddled defense. 2003 Football: A New Beginning for the Ducks.

In 2001, Oregon football was on top of the world as far as Duck fans were concerned. Oregon finished their best season ever with a win over Colorado in the Fiesta Bowl and a No. 2 national ranking. Everywhere one looked there was talk that the Ducks had finally reached the status of a football power. Heading into last season, hopes soared as the Ducks were on the receiving end of national respect. At one point in September, Oregon found itself ranked No. 9 nationally. Then the bottom fell out.

Ducks are solid in first scrimmage..

The Oregon Ducks held their first scrimmage of the fall camp on Saturday afternoon on the turf of Autzen Stadium. Head Coach Mike Bellotti called it "a good first step," and felt the tempo on both the offensive and defensive side of the ball was good. Bellotti cited the crisp hitting and popping of contact and believes there is a competitive spirit among the team that will carry on throughout the season.
