Once again, the football gods shone down on the Seahawks with sunny skies, as the players took the field for a brisk 105-minute Wednesday workout. One player returning to the fold was starting quarterback Matt Hasselbeck, who had missed the first two workouts this week due to a death in the family.

Of all the walking wounded along the Texas sideline (thankfully there are relatively few), the two most critical injuries heading into game week belong to FB <B>Ivan Williams </B>and LDE <B>Mike Williams</B>. Coaches are severely limited as to what they can report about specific injuries and are generally hesitant to forecast a timeline for return. But inquiring minds want to know, so Inside Texas asked <B>Mack Brown </B>for a reasonable prognosis of when he expected the talented duo to return.

From now on, it’s all about the 2003 season and the August 31 home opener against New Mexico State. Texas put the finishing touches on the preseason with an appreciably intense final scrimmage at DKR Wednesday that saw hardnosed runs from the RBs, a goal line stand from the first-team D, mobility at QB, improved pass protection from the O line plus the best WR that nobody’s heard of -- yet.

A program that failed to live up to expectations the past three seasons, Texas is a roster laden with supreme talent on both sides of the ball. Even after all the first day picks UT provided the NFL Draft the past three Aprils, there are still a lot of terrific prospects wearing Longhorn uniforms.
