We got our bearings on Day One. On Day Two our eyes were better focused, and our ears attuned, for the movements and news of Stanford Football. We present a blowout of information running up and down the roster including: the early three-deep offensive line depth chart, more freshmen making waves, a new injury, several players cleared to return, body changes, kicking, punt returns and much more!

Placekicking was one of the terrible failures for Stanford last season. Derek Belch did not win the job in 2006, due in large part to a disastrous spring, so he watched with much anguish during the fall. Now a fifth-year senior, Belch has come alive with a sensational spring. On Thursday, he kicked a 53-yard field goal, his longest attempt and make this month. Afterward he talked about his spring.

The Stanford Football roster has undergone a myriad of changes before spring practices start next Wednesday. Walk through the new-look defensive front seven, now that the Cardinal are running a 4-3 defense. Also who is out injured for the spring, who is making position switches and which man is slated to play both ways. It's a can't miss cornucopia of Cardinal notes before Spring Ball begins.

We sized up Stanford and measured much about the early progress of this fall camp with Wednesday's first full scrimmage. But it is wise to check in for the full report from the ultimate authority afterward: Walt Harris. The Cardinal head coach gave reactions immediately following the scrimmage, and then more Thursday after a review of the film. Here are his quotes from both days.

We hope you didn't become too accustomed to full-pads practices. NCAA rules do not allow that to continue through the remainder of spring practices. Friday was a day of lighter contact, with the players back into shorts following Thursday's heavy hitting and preceding Saturday's full scrimmage. The good news is that Day Six showed us the hurry-up offense and some red zone work for the first time this spring.
