KNOXVILLE -Head Coach Phillip Fulmer toyed with the idea of scrimmaging yesterday. Today he put that plan into action. Wednesday's 25-play scrimmage apparently served its purpose of getting the quarterbacks and younger players some much needed experience.

A chance to get on the practice field on Tuesday afternoon had Tennessee head coach Phillip Fulmer counting his blessings. Although the team is coming off a 17-13 defeat to Notre Dame and hurting from the loss of its second quarterback in two weeks, Fulmer seems to think he has found some sort of silver lining.

KNOXVILLE - In a move that surprised plenty of people close to the program, Tennessee head coach Phillip Fulmer named his top two quarterbacks heading into the 2004 opener. The "co-number one-s" as Fulmer calls them bring a lot of youth and excitement to the roster. Following Wednesday's scrimmage, true freshmen Erik Ainge and Brent Schaeffer have risen to the top of the depth chart.
