To say the least, it was an eventful week for Ashley McElhiney, former Vanderbilt star and current head coach of the Nashville Rhythm of the American Basketball Association. Within a span of eight days pro basketball's first female head coach was fired, re-hired, and welcomed home by a happy throng in her home town. Women's Hoops: Anderson, McElhiney drafted by WNBA

After a week of false starts as the WNBA put the finishing touches on a collective bargaining agreement, the 2003 WNBA draft was held on Friday. Both of Vanderbilt's graduating seniors, center Chantelle Anderson and point guard Ashley McElhiney, were drafted.
