The Browns have locked up one of their unrestricted free agents, with the news from the team that Steve Heiden has signed a two-year deal with the Browns. The team also officially announced some deals that we've known about for a while, and snagged free agent safety Jason Moore off of waivers less than a day after he was cut by the 49ers.

The 49ers started being held accountable for their actions Tuesday, and that meant waiving good-bye to Jose Cortez and punter Jason Baker. That Cortez was a goner comes as no surprise, and that Baker followed him out the door is hardly surprising, either.

The Niners have some decisions to make in their secondary now that starting free safety Zack Bronson will miss the heart of the season. Bronson had surgery Tuesday on a broken bone in his left foot and could be out the next two months, leaving the Niners scrambling at a position that had been one of the strongest on the team before he was injured during Monday night's win over the Seattle Seahawks.
