Martin Schnedlitz: A senior looks back

Martin Schnedlitz signed with Vanderbilt in Nov., 1999-- a promising, 6-10 center, a gem in Kevin Stallings' first recruiting class. Since then, a seemingly unending series of knee surgeries has limited his basketball career to scant minutes on rare occasions-- but the Austria native never quit, never gave up hoping. Here Schnedlitz, who plays his final home game Wednesday, shares the inspirational story of his four-year struggle to overcome pain and discouragement.

View from 3F (well, actually Section 215)

Two weeks ago there was a serious ice storm that swept through Lexington Kentucky. Half an inch of ice covered everything; many for over 2 days lost power. Vanderbilt's performance last night made it appear that the Dores were caught in a similar type of storm, based upon their ice cold shooting (30.6%) and lack of any power whatsoever. No. 2 Kentucky proved that they will be a force to be reckoned with in the NCAAs-- right now I would put my money on Kentucky to win the whole thing.

VANDERBILT-UPSTATE NEW YORK GAME PREVIEW

7:00 PM, Friday, November 15, Memorial Gymnasium <P> A surprising victory over the Harlem Globetrotters, 70-68, in the first exhibition game, raised hopes for the 2002-03 version of the Vanderbilt Commodores. They got the good shooting from the field that they needed for victory (47%) and actually dominated the game although it wasn't finally decided until a last-second field goal by Matt Freije.
