Omar Jenkins is inching closer to a personal best after catching four passes in the win over BYU. The Dallas, Texas, native only needs three more receptions in the last two games to equal his total for the 2002 season. Irish Eyes talked with Omar about the BYU game and the preparation for Stanford.

Jenkins Says Irish Need a Win

Omar Jenkins, senior wide receiver out of Dallas, Texas, has earned two monograms and will easily pick up his third this year. Omar was picked early in fall camp to be the heir to the No. 1 wide receiver spot with the graduation of Arnaz Battle. In the '02 campaign he pulled in 37 catches for 633 yards, an average of 17.1 yards a grab. Irish Eyes spoke with Omar at the conclusion of this week's practice.

Jenkins Ready For Playmaker Role

<P>Omar Jenkins reported to Notre Dame with little fanfare or hype. Most Notre Dame fans didn't expect Jenkins to see the field much less start. The 6-1, 205-pound Jenkins has silenced his critics with clutch catches and big plays and has become one of the most productive Irish receivers in recent memory. Jenkins is set for his final swansong and he says Irish fans will see a much improved Irish offense in 2003. </P>
