Claude Harriott wanted to make it to training camp by the first day of practice. When the "go ahead" call came from his agent after a four-year contract was hammered out Monday, the rookie is eager for his chance to get back out on the field.
This 6-foot-3, 271-pound rookie DE comes to the Bears from a strong program
at Pittsburgh where he played with LB Bryan Knight. Harriott was born in
Jamaica but moved to Belle Glade Florida at the age of six.<p>
The three rookies on the defensive line DTs Tommie Harris and Terry "Tank" Johnson and DE Claude Harriott got their first taste of "Bears Weather" during Friday's mini camp at Halas Hall. Although all three players hail from more temperate zones, the adjustment to biting wind chills didn't seem to diminish either their enthusiasm or their on field speed.
The Bears aren't looking to create a QB controversy, but they went into the draft with the intent to select a quarterback on day two. The Bears found Ohio State's Craig Krenzel too good to pass up in round five.
The Bears added another defender in round five and a quarterback they believe can become a solid backup. How do the scouts rate the DE Claude Harriott and QB Craig Krenzel?
