The quarterbackers were some one of the most scrutinized players this spring. Three players competed for the starting spot, but two distanced themselves and one of them will be the Beavers go to guy in 2005.

Defense Dominating in First Scrimmage

To say the offense struggled in the first scrimmage of the spring would be a vast understatement. The defense dominated most of the day forcing a number of three and outs and controlled the day from start to finish. It took the offense three drives to get its opening first down, which was aided on a pass interference penalty.

Insights Heading into Fall Camp

Speaking with many of the beaver faithful there seems to be a consensus of guarded optimism heading into fall camp. Not many are willing to go out publicly and predict a Pac 10 championship or even a BCS bowl appearance. However, there is that little voice in the back of our collective heads that says "we can win it all!" Not just the Pac 10 title but the Sugar bowl as well.

Post Spring Analysis: Quarterbacks

Derek Anderson started spring practice on top of the depth chart, but was not guaranteed the starting gun slinging job. Four quarterbacks battled daily for the starting and backup positions. Anderson retained his hold on the starting job, although two younger players impressed the coaches.
