While we typically shift our focus in April to the recruiting road, Stanford Basketball has had a whirlwind of breaking news hit its roster, coaching and support staff. We take no pleasure in being the first to report that the Cardinal will next year be without Tim Morris, who is tranferring. Offsetting that disappointing development is the exciting news of two new hires. A longtime and highly regard assistant coach is back, as is the hero from the "Miracle at Maples."

The calendar has moved forward, but the Cardinal community is still stuck on last night's stunning and painful 93-70 defeat to Mississippi State in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. It was a game that saw dramatic swings in the ebb and flow, with Stanford leading by 12 late in the first half but losing by 23. It wasn't a win, but Stanford's performance acquitted the Cardinal well enough Friday night in the Pac-10 Tournament semifinal against Washington. Stanford hung tough despite their weary legs.
