The Philadelphia Eagles today announced they have signed rookie free agent WR Michael Gasperson. The 6-4, 220-pound Gasperson played at the University of San Diego under head coach Jim Harbaugh, brother of Eagles special teams coordinator John Harbaugh.

From the Cheap Seats

Lost in some of the losses this year has been the unrelenting fight exhibited by the players. There is no question that the perseverance has been led by the stalwart senior class. Though these seniors and this season will not be flagged in the history books for its W/L record, we hail their spirt and efforts.

Card Can't Close

The only thing more painful than failure is repeating it. Twice in Tempe on Saturday night, Stanford failed to close out a half and protect their lead. Both times the defense failed horrifically, in design and execution. The final flub was an allowed 80-yard drive in the last two minutes of the game, reversing the joy of a fantastic Cardinal comeback.

There have been ups, and there certainly have been downs. But it had been encouraging to see several measures of improvement in Stanford Football through the first seven games of the season. Saturday at UCLA, however, marked a deeply disturbing return to the form of the ugly 2003 season, getting shut out 21-0 by the conference's worst defense.
