Patriots Release 10 and Trade One

FOXBORO, Mass. -- The New England Patriots announced the release of ten players today as they worked to reduce the roster to meet a league limit of 53 by Saturday. New England also traded rookie running back Patrick Cobbs to the Pittsburgh Steelers for an undisclosed draft pick Cobbs, a preseason playmaker was unlikely to clear waivers should the team have made the attempt.

University of Alabama-Birmingham DE/OLB Hassan McKeithan is a player who has shown possibilities and flashes of greatness, who has the size and the athletic ability to play at the next level. McKeithan has shown that he is willing to play wherever the coaches want him to play, and was recruited to UAB to play tight end, but he switched to the defensive side of the ball when there was injuries to help the team out.
