The Tide squad had a lot to do and only a short time to do it in, but all indications are that Head Coach Mike Shula accomplished all his goals during fall camp. <br><br>Some injuries will have to be dealt with, but optimism abounds as Alabama begins specific preparations for its season opener.

Paraphrasing a movie line, "How hot was fall camp? It was #%$* hot!!!" <br><br>As any athlete knows, there is simply nothing like practicing football under a blistering August sun. Thankfully, modern sports medicine is now infinitely better equipped to deal with the problem.

As devastating as the past week has been, Alabama is still Alabama. And Crimson Tide athletes are still made of stern stuff. <br><br>Take Chris James for example. "We've been through some adversity," James said shaking his head. "Man! It seems like every year. But we're a tough group of guys. We'll bounce back."

Determined to get the squad in peak condition, Head Strength Coach Ben Pollard is running the players hard. <br><br>Tuesday the athletes combined jumping rope with 100-yard sprints--repeated over and over again to virtual exhaustion--to work on both agility and aerobic conditioning at the same time.
