One thing every NFL team is cognizant of is that no one really knows what to expect out of rookie players. High draft picks like Ryan Leaf can flop, and undrafted free agents like Antonio Gates can electrify. So after spending a high pick this April on pass-rushing specialist Shawne Merriman, the Chargers covered themselves by signing undrafted rookie free agent Adell Duckett from Texas Tech.

Had Adell Duckett been rated on his junior year, he would have been a first day pick. He set school records as a junior but took the senior plunge - the one many high schoolers take when they find out they have been accepted to some university. Problem is Duckett had not finished the job. Thus the San Diego Chargers plucked him as an undrafted free agent.

Get ready for an offensive show and a game that could take four hours to finish. The Red Raiders of Texas Tech offer solid mid-to-late round talent while the Cal Bears have a bunch of prospects that will be sprinkled throughout the draft's seven rounds including a first day defensive end and signal caller that could go top three.
