Scouting Report: Georgia Tech

Vanderbilt extended its season-opening winning streak in dramatic fashion on Thursday night, needing two overtimes to defeat the visiting South Alabama Jaguars by a final score of 91-88. Shan Foster led all scorers with 26 points, and three other Commodores scored in double figures, including A.J. Ogilvy, whose 19 points gave him at least 18 in five of his first six collegiate games.

Vanderbilt 87 Valparaiso 78

NASHVILLE-- Freshman A.J. Ogilvy scored 21 points and pulled down 7 rebounds in leading Vanderbilt to an 87-78 win over Valparaiso. Vanderbilt jumped out to a 44-31 halftime lead and then held on to improve their record to 3-0.

Men's Basketball hosts Tusculum tonight

Eight months. Eight excruciating months have passed since a running bank shot from Georgetown's Jeff Green sank Vanderbilt's Final Four hopes, leaving the Commodore fans with lots of questions for the 2007-2008 season. Gone is star forward and leading scorer Derrick Byars, and with him went Dan Cage, Ted Skuchas, and JeJuan Brown, key cogs in Vanderbilt's Sweet 16 run.

Vanderbilt knocks out Florida, 83-70

NASHVILLE-- Thousands of Vanderbilt fans rushed the floor after Vanderbilt pulled off a monumental win over the number one ranked and defending National Champion Florida Gators. Vanderbilt's dynamic duo of Shan Foster and Derrick Byars each scored 24 points to lead the effort as the Commodores recording their sixth win all time over a number one ranked opponent at Memorial Gym, 83-70.

Shocker! Vandy tops Georgia Tech, 73-64

NASHVILLE-- After being given up for dead two weeks ago after a loss to Furman, a rejuvenated and scrappy Vanderbilt team upset #25 Georgia Tech on Saturday in historic Memorial Gymnasium. Shan Foster scored 25 points and Derrick Byars added 18 as the Commodores held on in the final minutes to win their fourth straight game.
