Former Minnesota Gopher Everette Pedescleaux, a senior defensive lineman at Northern Iowa, was named Missouri Valley Football Conference's first team. Pedescleaux signed a football scholarship with Minnesota with the intention to play basketball. However, he left the program before playing a game for the Gophers.

Everette Pedescleaux, a talented two-sport athlete from Plymouth (MN) Robbinsdale Armstrong, signed a football scholarship with Minnesota with the intention to play basketball. Unfortunately, he suffered a torn ACL in his left knee during a high school All-Star game. Due to the injury, Pedescleaux did not enroll full-time until January, but he is ready to contribute this season. Jonathan Williams, a six-foot-9 center who played last season at Fitchburg (MA) Notre Dame Academy, will attend summer school at Minnesota, according to his uncle Tony. Williams has a passing test score and is just waiting word from the NCAA clearinghouse. He did not sign a letter of intent with the late signing period, but he plans to be on the Gopher roster this upcoming season. Williams attended, but did not play, in a scrimmage at Williams Arena Sunday.

St. Paul Johnson made sure that their first appearance in the state tournament since 1924 would not be a short one as they defeated Robbinsdale Armstrong 75-56 in the quarterfinals of the Minnesota boy's state high school basketball tournament at the Target Center.
