SEATTLE - In a fitting end to the 2007-08 basketball season, hobbled UW forward Jon Brockman missed two free throws with four seconds remaining as the Huskies fell to the Valparaiso Crusaders, 72-71 in the first round of the College Basketball Invitational at Bank of America Arena.

LOS ANGELES — Washington put forth a gutsy effort playing without Jon Brockman in its Pac-10 Tournament first round game against California in the Staples Center, but fell short, 84-81, when Venoy Overton's last-second 3-pointer deflected short of the rim. The loss likely ends the season for the Huskies, which finished the year an even 16-16.

The former Franklin high star, shredded Arizona's interior defense, while making life miserable for their freshmen sensation, Jerryd Bayless, on the defensive end.
