When Tulsa and Kansas last met, neither team resembled the teams they now are. If they would played in a bowl, it was most likely the toilet bowl: both teams came in to that weeks' game without a Division I-A win and were ranked on ESPN's list of the ten worst teams in Division I-A.

After a surprise appearance in the post season last year, expectations are high for the Jayhawks as we move into the 2004 campaign. This is a squad with a good amount of talent on its' roster which will eventually find its way into the NFL over the next few years.

LAWRENCE--Sure, it rained like mad, a crazy kind of rain we hadn't seen in these parched parts in months. About the only thing missing was an ark and a two-by-two animal march up the gangway. Still, as much as the moisture was needed, those didn't seem much like tears from heaven falling on the greater Lawrence area Saturday.

Kansas City, MO -- This has not been an easy two years in the annals of the Kansas athletic department. From the firing of Terry Allen and hiring of Mark Mangino prior to last season, to long-time basketball coach Roy Williams' departure for North Carolina to the addition of athletic director Lew Perkins after Al Bohl's firing, the Jayhawks now have fresh faces in three key positions.

Spring practice may have completed, but the work is not done for Coach Mangino's Jayhawks. A big off-season conditioning program is now approaching as the Jayhawks prepare for the battles of the Big 12.
