With one game out of the way, it's one step closer to being where Nebraska wants to be. For the secondary, there's probably a dual purpose. It's about succeeding, of course, but it's also about taking that next step, perhaps to become the kind of secondary they think they can be. For them, this was a good start.

You could say that the secondary hasn't been as prepared to improve as they are this year. A wealth of experience and a host of players who have more than enough talent for the game. Is that enough? Can this group confront and overcome the lackluster performances of the last couple of years. Senior safety Tierre Green thinks that this group is ready to do that and more.

It might have reminded him a little of the days when he faced Millard North high school. Option left, option right, option left. For Tierre Green, this was old hat. It didn't make it any less fun, though, as Green and his mates routed the Colonels 56-7. Now it's about USC. But don't ask Nebraska to be afraid of the Trojans. Just like Nicholls State, USC is just another team they have to beat.

From running back to corner and then corner to safety, you'd hope for Tierre Green's sake he'd find a home pretty fast. After a solid fall and a solid debut against Louisiana Tech, he might have done just that. At least for him anyway, safety is fitting him to a tee.

It probably felt at times like a thousand balls were coming his way at once, Tierre Green finding himself defending pass, after pass after pass. Considering what happened to Nebraska last year, Green wasn't in a unique situation, but one that was probably frustrating nonetheless. He survived, the team won and there's momentum for next week and this game goes down as a major learning experience. Enjoy this edition of sound bytes.
