GIVEN THE STRUGGLES OF IDAHO'S secondary in 2013, it's no surprise that rebuilding the defensive backfield is a top priority. Last weekend Idaho hosted Butte (Calif.) College standout safety CHRIS EDWARDS (6-2, 215, 4.55), a Detroit (Mich.) native, and got the commitment they sought. GVN caught up with Butte coach and former Vandal WR Bobby Bernal-Wood for insight on the hard hitting safety.

With our attention becoming increasingly more focused on this key recruiting season as Idaho embarks on full WAC membership in 2005, we take one last look back at the 2004 football season. For 14 Vandal seniors, including captains <b>Simeon Stewart</b> (22), <b>Brian Yarno</b> (36), and <b>Brandon Kania</b> (86), this was their last opportunity to play intercollegiate football.

Several 2004 Vandal football players are either at or near the top of a number of individual statistical categories so far this season. Among them is junior middle linebacker <b>Cole Snyder</b>, who leads the Conference in tackles with 79 on the year. In all, Idaho is well represented on both sides of the ball.<br> <br>

Idaho recorded their first win of the season, beating Eastern Michigan of the Mid American Conference, 45-41, on the road in Ypsilanti, Michigan. The team demonstrated impressive determination and perseverance in this game, coming back from a 3-point deficit late in the 4th quarter to secure the win.<br> <br> Many congratulations to the team, and the coaching staff, on an impressive first victory.
