In light of the decision the Cubs made recently to place first baseman Brian Dopirak on outright waivers, it might have seemed as though the prospect once at the top (or certainly near it) of the farm system had lost some of his glamour in the eyes of his parent club.

HOUSTON – The Chicago Cubs today recalled outfielder Felix Pie from Triple-A Iowa. In a corresponding roster move, outfielder Angel Pagan was placed on the 15-day disabled list with colitis. In a separate roster move, the Cubs announced that infielder Brian Dopirak has been outrighted to Single-A Daytona.

Eric Patterson Promoted

HOUSTON – The Chicago Cubs today placed outfielder Alfonso Soriano on the 15-day disabled list with a right quad strain. In corresponding roster moves, Chicago has selected infielder Eric Patterson from Triple-A Iowa and designated infielder Brian Dopirak, currently at Single-A Daytona, for assignment. In addition, pitcher Wade Miller has been placed on waivers to grant his unconditional release.
