DRAFT: 7 Beavers selected in NFL Draft

PROGRAM HISTORY WAS made today, when seven Oregon State footballers were selected in the NFL Draft. The black and orange septet broke the previous mark of six OSU draftees in 1967 and 1947 -- back when the Draft lasted 17 and 30 rounds, respectively.

WTS: Beavs victorious in defensive struggle

FOR BEAVER FANS it was both frustrating and refreshing. The offense struggled, but the defense was back to its old form. In the end it didn't matter as Beaver Nation agreed - a win is a win. Pittsburgh fans on the other hand are wondering where their offense went. The national media is wondering where both offenses went and are calling the Sun Bowl the worst game of the 2008 bowl season thus far.

YOU COULD EXCUSE the Pitt quarterback, running back and entire offensive unit if they came away from the Sun Bowl thinking the color of the sun is orange rather than yellow. A cadre of orange-clad Beaver defenders cut off the daylight on the last day of the year, swarming the Panther offense on a windswept afternoon in El Paso as No. 24 Oregon State belted No. 18 Pitt by a 3-0 score.

Beavs begin bowl practice after finals

DESPITE THE SUN Bowl being over three weeks away and the Civil War over a week old one of the first words uttered out of Oregon State head coach Mike Riley's mouth was about the ugly Civil War loss and the possibility of a hangover.

Something Pitch Duck This Way Comes

FIRST OFF, let's give credit where credit is due. All you have to do is look at the numbers, and the intangibles, and the '08 Beaver defense deserves a wealth of praise. But two recent OSU opponents have found a degree of success -- with one particular play. And how the Beavs defend that play might just spell the difference when Oregon State and Oregon meet in a titanic Civil War on Saturday.
