COLE MORGAN, THE quarterbacking nomad whose college career finally hit its stride last season at Central Washington, is back in crimson. And he's firing some zingers. Not on the gridiron but on the CF.C football message board. For four years, as a Cougar grayshirt, redshirt and then backup, Morgan said he was equally amused, delighted and outraged by what he read on the board.

COLE MORGAN'S three-plus years at Washington State are shaping up as a huge boost to his quest to find a new school now that Western Washington, where he spent this past season as a fourth-year junior, has discontinued its football program. Morgan told CF.C today that he already has talked with numerous schools -- ranging from Division II to Division I -- about next season.

BACKUP WSU QUARTERBACK Cole Morgan is leaving Washington State and heading to Western Washington in Bellingham for his final two years of eligibility. Morgan's departure creates what is expected to be a wide open race for the No. 3 position in fall camp behind Gary Rogers and Kevin Lopina.

PULLMAN -- The Cougar defense came out hotter than the Martin Stadium turf as the Washington State Cougars returned to the Martin Stadium Wednesday for the second scrimmage of fall camp. The Cougar D stifled the offense the first two possessions, not allowing the football to cross the goal line.

PULLMAN -- Washington State players were back on the move at Tuesday's first practice after a day off on Monday. Coach Bill Doba spoke openly after the session about, among other things, an interesting change of pace. Action on the field included a receiving veteran turning in the catch of the day and one of the starting 'backers crashing the backfield so fast he almost could have taken the snap.
