Vandal men prepare for WAC Tourney opener

Senior point guard MAC HOPSON and the Idaho Vandals (15-15, 6-10 WAC) set their sights on Nevada (19-11, 11-5 WAC), the No.2 team in the WAC regular season. The Vandals will have their hands full for many reasons, including the fact that the Wolf Pack finished the regular season an impressive 14-1 at home. But Idaho won five of their last seven games, including a one point home loss to Nevada.

Vandals down SJSU, set sights on Hawaii

THE VANDALS BURST OUT OF THE GATE Thursday night at the Cowan Spectrum, building an 18-point lead over San Jose State that propelled Idaho to a key 86-76 victory. Idaho's record now stands at 14-15 on the season (5-10 WAC), with the season finale and "Senior Night" set for Saturday night against Hawaii (tipoff 5:05pm PST). "This win is huge," coach V said. "It gets us in the WAC tournament."

Vandals enter final week of regular season

The Idaho Vandals, led by senior point guard MAC HOPSON, return home this week to close out the regular season and battle for position going into the Western Athletic Conference Tournament. Idaho (13-15, 4-10 WAC) will look to even their season record by hosting San Jose State Thursday night (7:00pm PST tipoff), followed by Hawaii Saturday (5:05pm PST tipoff) when Idaho's seniors will be honored.

Vandals sweep Seattle University

THE VANDALS IMPROVED THEIR SEASON RECORD TO 13-12 (4-8 WAC) with their 82-72 victory over Seattle University Thursday night in the Cowan Spectrum. Three Idaho seniors finished in double figures, led by KASHIF WATSON'S 20-point effort to lead all scorers. Center Marvin Jefferson added 16 points and 8 boards. Up next, Idaho hosts Long Beach State (5:30PM PST tipoff) Saturday evening at the Cowan.

Utah State downs Idaho

Going into Saturday's game against Utah State, the Vandals admittedly battled glaring weaknesses, including struggling to take care of the ball and difficulty shooting free throws. After 20 minutes in front 2500 Idaho fans, the Vandals trailed by five points, hit 4-of-5 free throws and turned the ball over twice, just like the visiting Aggies. But USU dominated the second half for the 60-48 win.

Idaho's students had not returned to start their spring semester to make the total attendance 1,296. But, the Vandals kept it close, as KASHIF WATSON scored 16 points, added 3 assists, and made 1 steal. GoVandals.Net was there to capture the second home game of the 2009-2010 season.

Vandals Roll Over No.25 Portland

Coming off a surprising loss to Cal State Northridge Thursday, Idaho (5-2) recovered and got back on track, dominating No.25 Portland (5-3) in Memorial Gym Sunday night. The Pilots, the first Top 25 non-conference team Idaho has ever hosted, never led in the game. The Vandals built an 18 point first half margin and led by as many as 25 before claiming a convincing 68-48 victory. Up next: WSU.
