Undersized sophomore Marquise Liverpool was at the top of the depth chart at tailback as Temple started preseason practice on Sunday. Liverpool, who played wide receiver last year, answered the call when Coach Al Golden asked for new tailback candidates in the spring. This year, don't expect to see him anywhere else.

As a high school senior, Marquise Liverpool was rated as the second-best wide receiver north of the Mason-Dixon Line. The only guy ranked ahead of him? That was Dwayne Jarrett, who went on to a record-setting career at USC and was picked by the Carolina Panthers in this year's NFL Draft. The "next best thing" is looking forward to beginning informal workouts with his new Temple teammates.

That's how Don Bosco Prep Coach Greg Toal refers to Marquise Liverpool, the highly-rated wide receiver who verbally committed to join the Temple football team this past weekend. Liverpool's high school coach offered a glowing assessment of the impact that his former pupil could have for the Owls in 2007, and beyond.

First came Adam DiMichele. Then it was Colin Madison. Now, Marquise Liverpool has added his name to the Temple football team's list of summer recruits. The 5-11, 190-pound wide receiver from Teaneck, N.J., committed to the Owls on Sunday. He'll arrive at Temple this week and is eligible to join the team this season.
