Millwood, Plesac Get Arbitration Offers From Phils

Sunday night's deadline to offer arbitration to free agents saw the Phillies offer arbitration to Kevin Millwood and Dan Plesac, but decline arbitration to their other free agents, including reliever Terry Adams. Millwood now has until December 19th to accept or decline the Phillies offer of arbitration. If he accepts, he is automatically a Phillie, but if he declines, the Phillies still have until January 8th to negotiate with the right-hander.

Plesac Interested In Staying on in Philadelphia

With the Phillies bullpen needing to be reassembled, there is hope that one of the stronger points of the 2003 pen might be willing to return. Dan Plesac, wasn't sure that the wanted to pitch in 2003, but now, he has at least opened the door a little to one more "final" season in the majors and he might like it to be in Philadelphia where he enjoyed pitching last season.

Behind the clutch hitting of newly recalled second basemen Chase Utley, the Phillies survived a late comeback attempt by the Milwaukee Brewers en route to a 4-3 victory. Randy Wolf started the game, and struck out seven on the way to his twelfth win of the season. With the St. Louis Cardinals coming into town for a weekend set, tonight was a must win for the Phightin Phils.
