Hurricane Gustav hits Wildcats

Two Wildcats call southern Louisiana home with Blair Irvin coming from Patterson, and Keithen Valentine from Baton Rouge. Both communities are in line to feel the winds and gales of Hurricane Gustav as it makes land today. In addition, several Wildcats are continuing to feel storm of Ron Prince.

Prince Opens Spring Practice

Kansas State will stage the first of 14 spring ball workouts on Saturday at Bill Snyder Family Stadium with the high hopes of improving on last year's 5-7 record. The Wildcats return 20 players who have started at least one game, and will field a spring roster of 21 seniors, 20 juniors, 13 sophomores and 11 freshmen. The annual Purple-White game will take place on April 19.

K-State Signee: Chris Patterson

Chris Patterson has spent time at both Northeast Oklahoma A&M and Joliet Junior College. The lightning quick linebacker prospect can easily run a 4.5-40 yard dash and certainly has a great build and all the tools to terrorize quarterbacks from his outside position. Patterson was a four-star prospect coming out of his senior year at Hubbard High School in Chicago, Illinois.

The Minnesota Gopher coaching staff continues to look hard for defensive help for next season. Their recruiting efforts have meant the coaches have looked hard at Joliet (IL) CC as they are recruiting three members and are actively pursuing Mark Dietz, Eric Small and Chris Patterson.
